Slingbox Pro Instructions
The Slingbox Pro is a solution for home multimedia that channels content over your home network to TVs in different rooms in the house or even to your laptop. You can connect it to a cable box or DVR, and the content from that component is streamed to your choice of viewing screen, wherever it is situated. It has a RF (Radio Frequency) remote control that does not require a line of sight as IR (InfraRed) remotes typically do, and it uses a special IR cable to communicate with any IR components you might have.
Things You'll Need
- TV
- Audio/video cables (included)
- Audio/video source component (VCR, cable box, DVD, etc.)
- Remote IR cable (included)
- Ethernet cable (included)
- Power adapter (included)
- Home network (router or direct Ethernet connection)
- Computer with optical drive
Instructions

1
Plug one end of an audio/video cable into an audio/video source component (such as a DVD player), and plug the other end into its corresponding input on the Slingbox unit. Use "In 1" if you are using composite video, or use "In 2" if you are using s-video.
-
2
Plug one end of an audio/video cable into an "Output" port on the Slingbox, and plug the other end into the corresponding input jack on your TV. Use the same cable type for the Slingbox output as was used for the corresponding Slingbox input. For example, if your audio/video component is connected to the Slingbox with a composite video cable, the Slingbox video output will be composite, not s-video.

3
Plug the remote IR cable into the "IR" jack on the back of the Slingbox. Place one of the IR cable heads on top of your attached component, directly above that component's IR sensor, and place the other cable head underneath your attached component, directly below that component's IR sensor. The Slingbox receives RF signals from the remote, which are sent to your component as an IR signal, so make sure the cable heads protrude far enough out for the IR sensor to read them.
-
4
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into a router or other portal to your home network, and plug the other end into the "Network" jack on the Slingbox.
-
5
Plug one end of the power adapter into the "Power" jack on the back of the Slingbox, and plug the other end into an electric outlet. The "Power" and "Network" lights should both be on at this point.
-
6
Place the Slingbox installation CD in your computer's optical drive. Software installation should start automatically. Click "OK" through any prompts to install the software with default settings.
