1
Remove the filter from the machine using the wrench. Hold the wrench in one hand and hold the filter with the other hand to keep it from dropping down once it becomes unfastened.
-
2
Pull the filter basket down and begin to clean each internal component (screen, ring, filter basket and disk) with a scour sponge. The scrubbing side of your dish sponge should work efficiently if you have no scour sponges available. Clean the screen, ring, filter basket and disk with the sponge until all the espresso grinds are thoroughly removed.

3
With a brush, such as an old toothbrush, wipe away any buildup within the hardware on the machine where the filter was disconnected. Clean and dry off with a clean cloth.
-
4
Reassemble the filter in the same order you removed the pieces, then connect it back onto the machine and tighten using the screw and 8 mm wrench. Fasten the screw securely, but avoid tightening too much, which may strip the bolt or make it too difficult to remove in the future.
