Call your local phone company, cable TV provider, water company, gas company and electric company to arrange for disconnection of your service the day after your move. Be prepared to refer to account numbers.

  3. Step 3

Request a refund of your deposit and give your forwarding address to each utility service.

  4. Step 4

Make arrangements with your cable TV provider to have any control boxes picked up at your residence or dropped off at the cable company's offices.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not have your utilities disconnected until you've completely moved out of your old home so you can have full access to all utilities on moving day.
  • Avoid delays in the return of your utility deposits by providing a forwarding address to utility companies.
