How to Get Skype to Work With a Polycom PVX
Skype lets you communicate with family and friends all over the world. You can communicate by instant messaging (IM), voice calling or video conferencing. Skype also works with most webcams, including the Polycom PVX video cam. Once you download Skype, all you need to do is install the Polycom PVX software and test it out with the Skype program.

Insert the Polycom CD in the computer's disk drive. Follow the setup wizard instructions. Save the Polycom software to the computer's hard drive.

Restart the computer. Attach one end of the USB cable to the Polycom video cam. Connect the other end to the desktop computer or laptop's available USB port.

Download the Skype software (see Resources). Save the file to the desktop. Double-click the file and follow the installation process. Create a folder and save it to the computer's hard drive.

Click "Start" and "All Programs." Locate and launch the Skype program. Click on "Don't have a Skype Name?" Create a username and password.

Go back to the Skype sign-in screen. Enter your username and password. Click "Sign In" when complete.

Type the name of a contact you want to add above the contact list. Include the person's first name and last name. Select the contact you want on the list and click "Add."

Click on that person's name to send an instant message. Click "Video Call" to test the Polycom video cam.

Tips & Warnings
Change the settings of the Polycom video cam by clicking on "Tools," "Options" and "Video Settings."
