How to Cleanse Pendulum Crystals

The spiritual cleansing of a pendulum crystal involves ridding it of negative energies

New Age spiritualists use pendulum crystals as dowsing or divination tools. Specifically, they are used to locate places on a map that are of personal spiritual significance to the user, to locate unbalanced chakras within the user and to answer questions with an indication towards "yes," "no" or "maybe."



Cleansing your pendulum crystal may require physically cleansing the crystal as well as spiritually cleansing the crystal to remove negative energies. Note that the physical cleansing of a crystal is easier than a spiritual cleansing and the results are much more readily apparent.

Things You'll Need

• Pendulum crystal
• Dishwashing detergent
• Small container
• Soft-bristled toothbrush
• Wooden incense holder or small glass plate
• Sage leaves, sweetgrass blades or incense
• Lighter
• Feather or paper fan
• Sea salt

Instructions

Physical Cleansing of the Pendulum Crystal

1. Lightly scrub the pendulum crystal with a dry, soft-bristled toothbrush to remove any dirt or bits of debris that may be clinging to the surface of the pendulum crystal. A simple back-and-forth motion is all that's necessary.

2. Mix a few drops of dishwashing detergent with warm water in a small container. Stir until sudsy.

3. Dip the soft-bristled toothbrush into the warm, soapy water and gently scrub all sides of your pendulum crystal with a back-and-forth motion.

4. Hang the pendulum crystal in the sun to dry naturally.

Spiritual Cleansing of the Pendulum Crystal

1. Place the pendulum crystal on a clean, dry, stable surface outside. Place an incense holder or small glass plate next to the crystal.

2. Place the sage leaves, sweetgrass blades or incense onto the incense holder or glass plate and light with the lighter. The sage, sweetgrass or incense will not actually burn but will smolder and produce a great deal of smoke.

3. Fan the smoke from the leaves, grass or incense over the crystal with a feather or paper fan. Some practitioners of New Age spirituality, such as crystal energy therapist and Reiki master Karen Ryan, believe that using your hand to fan cleansing smoke over crystals will draw negative energies out of the crystal and onto yourself.

4. Rinse your hands with sea salt and water after handling the crystals to cleanse yourself of any energies left behind on your person from the pendulum crystal.
