How do I Wire a 120-Volt Intermatic Pool Pump Timer?
Running a pool pump constantly is often unnecessary and can cause early failure of the pump. It's better for the pump, and your energy bill, to run it intermittently. An Intermatic timer is a convenient and easy-to-install device that will turn your pool pump on and off automatically at set times of the day. You can easily set the timer using color-coded pins inserted into the timer's clock face. Once set, the Intermatic timer will cycle the pump on and off without any further action on your part. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Disconnect power from the 120-volt pool pump supply line by switching off the breaker or removing the fuse.
-

Remove a knockout from the bottom of the timer housing to run the wires through. Insert the 120-volt supply wire and the wire from the pool pump through the knockout and into the timer housing.

3
Twist the two bare copper wires together with a pair of pliers. Cut the end of one bare copper wire so it is 1 inch shorter than the other. Insert the longer end under the grounding screw in the timer housing and tighten the screw with a screwdriver.

4
Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from both black and both white wires. Insert both white wires under terminal "A" and tighten the terminal screw with a screwdriver. Insert the black wire from the 120-volt supply line under terminal "1" and tighten the terminal screw. Insert the black wire from the pool pump under terminal "2" and tighten the terminal screw.

5
Reconnect the power to the supply line by switching the breaker on or replacing the fuse. Set the timer by turning the clock face clockwise until the time arrow is aligned with the current time. Insert the "On" and "Off" pins in the desired locations. Check the timer and pump for proper operation. Disconnect the power and check all connections if the timer fails to operate correctly.
