The eSpring water purification system removes bad tastes and impurities from your water, but only if it's working properly. The device has a bank of lights that can assist you in diagnosing problems. If you're experiencing bad tastes or leaks, follow some simple procedures to remedy them.

Step 1

Verify that the eSpring unit has power. If no lights are illuminated on the device, it is not getting power and should not be used. Ensure that the power cable is firmly connected to an electrical outlet. If the lights work intermittently, unplug the unit, wait five minutes and plug it back in to reset it.

Step 2

Check for the red telephone icon on the eSpring's display. If the red telephone icon appears, all of the lights are flashing and the device is beeping, immediately disconnect the eSpring and call the company's customer service line. These indicators mean the device is critically malfunctioning and needs to be examined by a licensed eSpring repair person.

Step 3

Verify that the top shroud is shut. You will know the shroud is open when the blue cup icon goes out on the display and the eSpring begins to beep.

Step 4

Change the eSpring's purification cartridge to address musty tastes. You will know the cartridge needs to be changed when the Install Cartridge light illuminates on the display. See the Tips section for more information on understanding the lights on your eSpring unit.

Step 5

Flush the system to address musty tastes that persist after changing the cartridge. To flush the system, simply run cold water through it for two to three minutes. Never use warm or hot water, as it can damage the system.

Step 6

Clean the screen inlet and treated water port with a brush to address a reduced water flow rate. To do this, turn off the cold water and open the faucet to drain water from the unit. Remove the tube from the screen side of the supply connector, clean the screen and reinsert the tube.

Step 7

Check for leaks at the diverter. The diverter is the piece that attaches to the water faucet on your sink. If you see leaks here, push the two tubes that attach to the diverter all the way into the barbs and hand-tighten the nuts. If leaks occur elsewhere on the unit itself or on the tubing, eSpring recommends you contact the company directly to have a licensed repair person repair your tubing.
