How to Build a Stand Alone DVD Burner

A DVD burner allows a person to make a replica of an existing DVD. Most DVD burners come installed in a computer. However, it is also possible to build a standalone DVD burner. It is a relatively easy process and can be done in a number of steps.

Things You'll Need

• IDE cable
• Hard drive
• DVD duplicator controller
• DVD burner
• Power supply
• Duplicator case

Instructions

1. Purchase the components required to build the stand-alone DVD burner. These are the IDE cable, hard drive, DVD duplicator controller, DVD burner, power supply and duplicator case.

2. Read the instructions for the duplicator case and know the location for each component. Building the DVD player is very simple and is simply a matter of plugging in the components in the right socket.

3. Put the hard drive into its slot. Then put the IDE cable, DVD duplicator controller and DVD burner into their respective slots. You may refer to the individual instruction manual for further assistance.

4. Place the original DVD into the ROM drive and the blank DVD into the writer drive. The DVD burner will begin copying the information immediately.
