How to Remove a Motorcycle Exhaust Baffle on a Yamaha

All motorcycle manufactures use restrictive baffles inside the exhaust to quiet down the engine and to create backpressure on the engine. Yamaha motorcycles like the V-Star 1100 are no different. Some motorcycle manufacturers make it easy and secure the baffles using bolts. Some mold the baffles into the exhaust -- this is what Yamaha did. If you want to remove the baffles in the Yamaha exhaust, you must make permanent modifications.

Drill a hole through the end cap using a 1 1/2-inch hole saw and an electric hand drill. There are two layers of metal in the end cap. Drill through both of them. The cut portion of the end cap remains in the hole saw. Do this step on both the top and bottom exhaust pipe.
