How to Find Your Hit Cap

How to Find Your Hit Cap thumbnail
Hit cap depends on the class of your character and your character's attributes.

A hit cap is the amount of hit rating or percentage of chance your character in World of Warcraft (WoW) has to hit their target. Every creature has a different hit cap, depending on their class -- whether it be druid, hunter, mage, paladin, priest, rogue, shaman, warlock, warrior, or death knight -- and depending on their weapons choice, whether it be spells, melee or handheld weapons, or ranged weapons.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose your class. Different classes have different talents, and talents will affect hit caps.

    • 2

Choose your weapon. Certain classes, such as hunters, rogues, and warriors, may not arm themselves with spells. The melee weapons receive a "soft" hit cap, which is the amount of hit required for special attacks, and "hard" hit caps, which is an assurance that all auto-attacks will hit. Casters, those who use spells, receive a 17% hit cap.

Press "C" while in the main WoW game screen to bring up your character sheet. This is the screen in WoW where all character information is located. The character hit cap is shown here, though it does not take special talents into account in its configuration. Some special talents raise the hit cap percentage.
