How to Paint Baseboard With Carpet
Properly and carefully painting your interior spaces can help make your room look more pristine. Interior paint jobs that look professional have carefully cut-in baseboards. Cutting-in is a process by which painters apply paint to trim, baseboards and moldings without using painter's tape or getting paint on the wall. Professional painters and do-it-will want to cover their carpet with a dropcloth to ensure it doesn't get stained by the paint. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Lay a dropcloth on the carpet a half-inch from the baseboard.
-
2
Tape the dropcloth to the carpet with painter's tape that is at least 1 inch wide. Lay the tape so the exposed half-inch of carpet is covered. This will ensure the dropcloth stays in place.
-
-
3
Dip a 2-inch-wide paintbrush into the paint so the bristles are covered halfway up the brush.
-
4
Slap the paintbrush against each side of the inside of the paint can. This will remove a lot of the paint, which will prevent you from applying too much to the baseboard and causing drips on the carpet.
-
5
Paint one long stripe down the center of the baseboard about a quarter-inch from the top of the baseboard.
-
6
Dip and slap the paintbrush again.
-
7
Paint another long stripe down the center of the baseboard about a quarter-inch from the bottom of the baseboard. This stripe will overlap the first.
-
8
Dip and slap the paintbrush.
-
9
Paint the top of the baseboard by carefully sneaking the brush up toward but not touching the wall.
-
10
Dip and slap the paintbrush.
-
11
Paint the bottom of the baseboard by carefully sneaking the brush down toward but not touching the tape on the carpet.
-
12
Immediately slide the brush over the entire surface to even out the brush strokes. Do not reapply any paint.
-
13
Let the baseboard dry completely before pulling off the tape and removing the dropcloth. Completely dry paint will not be sticky.
