Bronzeware is flatware or silverware made of pure bronze or a bronze alloy. Cleaning bronzeware regularly ensures it stays in the best condition possible. Cleaning is also the first step to polishing the bronzeware, which will make your items appear newer and more pristine. Avoid cleaning your bronzeware in a dishwasher as the detergent may be too harsh for the bronze and can damage it. Instead, clean the pieces by hand. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Mild liquid dish soap
  • Distilled water
  • Cloths
  • Soft-bristled toothbrush

Instructions

    • 1

      Add 1 drop of liquid dish soap to 1 cup of distilled water. Use a mild soap that does not contain bleach. Mix until the suds form in the water.

      Dip a clean cloth into the soapy mixture and rub it over the bronzeware to remove dirt and debris.

      Dip a toothbrush into the soapy water and gently brush any areas that are still dirty.

      Rinse the piece of bronzeware in clear distilled water.

      Dry the bronzeware completely with a microfiber cloth. Microfiber cloths will absorb more of the moisture and not leave lint on the bronzeware.

  • Return bronzeware to its original appearance with polishing compound.
