How to Frame a Glass Pendant

How to Frame a Glass Pendant thumbnail
A glass pendant makes for a beautiful piece of artwork when framed in a shadow box.

When it catches the correct light, glass artwork is truly a sight to behold. Glass art is not only attractive, but also it can be purchased for a fraction of the cost of higher-priced materials such as gold and silver. While many people wear glass pendants around their necks, this is not their only use. Glass pendants can be framed in shadow boxes to create a conversationalist piece of artwork that will look great hanging on just about any wall.

Things You'll Need

  • Glass pendant
  • Shadow box (large enough to accommodate pendant)
  • Mat (cut to size)
  • Epoxy

Instructions

    • 1

Place the mat inside of the shadow box, lining it up so that it is perfectly situated and that no corners or edges show. The mat can line up perfectly as long as it is cut to the correct size, and can be secured with the shadow box's framing points.

    • 2

Apply a very small amount of epoxy to the back of the pendant. With the glass piece of the shadow box remaining off, carefully place the pendant in the middle of the frame. Using a small amount of pressure, push the pendant down to the mat so that it adheres well. Allow at least 30 minutes to dry without moving the frame.

    • 3

Add any finishing touches that you wish to include. Many people like to decorate or paint the mat around the object itself. When finished, secure the glass panel to the front of the shadow box and hang.

Tips & Warnings

  • Shadow boxes can be heavy. Ensure that whatever you use to hang your frame on the wall is strong and sturdy enough to prevent the frame from falling.

  • Epoxy is a dangerous chemical and should only be used in well-ventilated areas.
