How to Connect an FTA Receiver to a DirecTV Dish

FTA receivers work with satellite dishes to acquire free television programming. While they cannot acquire some subscription programming, FTA receivers excel at collecting local television channels that some satellite TV services do not offer for free. With an FTA system, you can use your existing DirecTV dish equipment in conjunction with your FTA receiver. The FTA receiver installs in the same manner as standard DirecTV receiver. You can watch your favorite local and other free-to-air channels in a matter of minutes.

Things You'll Need

• Coaxial cables
• AV component cables

Instructions

1. Fasten one end of a coaxial cable to the feed from your DirecTV dish.

2. Attach the other end of the coaxial cable to the "Satellite IN" jack on the rear panel of a FTA receiver.

3. Insert the power supply cord into the FTA receiver, and plug the cord into the nearest wall outlet. The receiver will detect the cable connection to the receiver.

4. Connect the receiver to your TV's input with a set of AV component cables, and set the input to the "AV" or "Component" option on your TV to display the picture from the FTA receiver.
