How to Change the Rubber Paddles on an MTD Snowblower

The rubber paddles on an MTD snowblower are there to protect the metal blades of the auger from damage. When the rubber paddles begin to wear, they will need to be replaced. This is a fairly straightforward task, which you can complete in a couple of minutes. However, before beginning the task, you will need to acquire the proper type of rubber paddles for your specific model of MTD snowblower.

Things You'll Need

• Nut driver

Instructions

1. Turn the starter key to the "Off" position. Remove the key from the ignition.

2. Locate the self-tapping screws that are used to secure the rubber paddles to the auger.

3. Take out the screws using the correct size nut driver.

4. Remove the rubber paddles from the auger blades.

5. Place the new rubber paddles over the blades of the auger.

6. Insert the self-tapping screws into the screw holes and tighten them with the nut driver.

7. Replace the starter key in the ignition.

Tips & Warnings

• A wrench can be used if you do not have the right size of nut driver available.

• The snowblower can get damaged if the rubber paddles are to the point where any of the exposed augers can contact the ground or pavement.
