How to Remove a Garmin Lock

Unlock your Garmin device using built-in security features.

Garmin manufactures and markets navigational systems, offering products suitable for everyday driving in automobiles, motorcycles and trucks. Many of the company's navigational systems include special capabilities such as photo navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth, free map updates, emergency locator and maps for countries or territories outside the owner's country of origin. Many Garmin products use a locking mechanism that requires a personal identification number (PIN), which you set at a security location of your choosing.

Instructions

1. Type in your four-digit PIN number --- the PIN you originally used to set up your Garmin locking feature --- to unlock your Garmin device.

2. Drive to the security location where you originally set up your PIN. Your Garmin device should unlock automatically.

3. Return your unit to Garmin if you do not remember your PIN or security location. The company may be able unlock it for you --- possibly for a service fee.
