ABS plastic is often used in the construction of mobile home bathtubs. The plastic's lightweight and durable properties make it easy to transport and install. This type of bathtub will withstand years of wear and tear, being resistant to most stains and requiring little work to clean and maintain. While there are a number of bathtub cleaning products on the market, you can clean an ABS plastic bathtub with an inexpensive alternative by using supplies you likely already have on hand.

  1. Moisten a cleaning eraser with water, and scrub over the plastic surface of the tub. This will quickly remove mild soap scum and buildup with little elbow grease required on your part.

  2. Fill a spray bottle with an inexpensive, homemade cleaning solution. Pour 2 cups water, 1 cup white vinegar and 2 teaspoons of dish soap into a spray bottle. The vinegar will clean and disinfect while the soap will cut through soap scum and residue. All ingredients will dry streak-free.

  3. Spray a light mist of the cleaning solution onto the plastic tub surface, and let it sit for 10 seconds.

  4. Wipe the tub clean with a damp cleaning cloth. Scrub hard surfaces with a nylon scrub brush, which will remove thick residue without scratching the plastic.
