How to Remove Strong Glue

How to Remove Strong Glue thumbnail
Soak glued fingers in warm soapy water.

Before you begin using a strong glue, you should prepare your work surface. Wash, dry and cover it with newspaper, rags or plastic to protect it from accidental spills. Strong glues like Gorilla Glue, Krazy Glue and Super Glue are notoriously hard to remove after they have dried. If any of the glue gets on your work surface, your clothing or skin, you should clean it off immediately. Wet glue is much easier to remove than glue which has dried.

Instructions

  1. Removing Glue from Fabric and Furniture

    • 1

Pour acetone or nail polish remover into a small container.

    • 2

Dip a toothbrush into the acetone.

    • 3

Scrub fabric or furniture with the toothbrush. Spot test the acetone's effect on the fabric in a hidden corner before attempting to remove the glue. Use a circular motion to loosen the glue's bond. Flip the fabric over, if possible, and scrub the backside.

    • 4

Dip a rag in warm water and wipe or dab the acetone off the furniture or fabric.

    Removing Glue from Your Fingers

    • 5

Put a dime-sized amount of dish soap into a bowl and add warm water.

    • 6

Soak your fingers in the warm water. While in the water, roll your glued fingers in a circular motion to loosen the bond between the glue and your skin.

    • 7

Rinse your unstuck fingers in clean water and dry them with a rag.
