How do I Set Up an AS/400 Printer Connected to an HP Deskjet 812C Printer?

The IBM AS/400 series of printers can be installed on any computer. It merely needs one USB port to be able to function as your all-in one printer, scanner fax and copy machine. If you have run out of USB ports, and you already have a printer connected to your computer, you can use the USB input port on the already installed printer to send the printing jobs to the AS/400.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the USB port on both printers. You need the USB output on the AS/400, which is located on the rear, and the USB input port on the front of the HP 812C.

    • 2

Connect the USB cable from the AS/400 to the HP 812C and make sure the HP printer is securely connected to the computer using its USB cable or serial port.

    • 3

Click the "Start" button and "Control Panel" button to open the control panel. Click the "Add Printer" button on the left side of the control panel.

    • 4

Click the "Add Local Printer" button and printer wizard will appear. Click the manufacturer of the new printer, "IBM," and the model, "AS/400."

    • 5

Click "Next" and the printer will be installed onto your computer.
