Steps for How to Use a Fire Blanket
Fire blankets are a safe and convenient alternative to the common fire extinguisher. These blankets are made from synthetic materials, wool fabrics, fiberglass or aramid fibers, and all are treated with flame retardants. Fire blankets are thoroughly tested in such areas as thermal performance, thermal shrinkage and flame resistance to pass inspection successfully and be sold to the public. Once they have passed, these blankets receive approval by FEMA or the U.S. Fire Safety Administration. Approved blankets, when used correctly, are effective fire-safety tools.
