How to Troubleshoot a Walkman
The primary function of a Sony Walkman is to carry and listen to your music files in a portable manner. After using your Walkman several times, you may begin to experience problems with its general functions. Following a few steps and performing your own maintenance will have you operating your device effectively and efficiently in little time. You can recharge your battery properly to stop your Walkman from dying too frequently, remedy a Walkman that makes no sound, deactivate the hold feature, and reset the entire player.

1
Recharge your battery. Plug the supplied USB cable cord into the bottom of your Walkman and the AC power adapter. Plug the AC adapter into a functional wall outlet, and allow the Walkman to charge until you see the plug icon appear on the display (approximately two hours). If the battery won't hold a charge after a full recharge, then the battery needs to be replaced.

Reset the player by using a sharp, thin object, such as a pen or the end of an opened paper clip. Insert the pen or paper clip into the "Reset" button hole. This operation will reset the player but will not erase any files or settings.
