How to Knit Pot Holders

If you enjoy knitting, you can make a small knit craft for your friends and family members as a homemade gift. When you knit pot holders by hand, you have control over the colors and thickness. To successfully create a set of pot holders, follow a few guidelines to ensure that they will be thick enough to use.

Instructions

    • 1

Tie the ends of four DK weight yarn strands together.

    • 2

Cast 25 stitches onto size 11 knitting needles using the quadrupled yarns.

    • 3

Knit across each row in garter stitch (all knit, no purl) until your piece measures about 8 inches long.

    • 4

Cast off all of the stitches, leaving a loop of yarn on the last stitch.

    • 5

Tie a knot at the base of the loop to secure it and to prevent the knitting from unraveling.

    • 6

Repeat this process until you have as many pot holders as you want in the set.
