How to Figure Out Pay Raise Percentage
If you have recently received a raise and need to figure out what percent raise you received, a quick calculation will do the trick. Even if you are anticipating a raise, or comparing salary increases across companies, the percentage of the raise gives you one point of comparison besides just the amount. You will need the pre- and post-raise salaries to make this calculation.

1
Subtract the post-raise wage, whether it is an annual salary or an hourly wage, from the pre-raise wage. For an example, if your annual salary has gone from $42,000 to $46,000, the amount is $4,000.
-
2
Divide the amount of the raise by the pre-raise wage. Here, $4,000 divided by $42,000 is 0.0952.
-
-
3
Multiply the total from Step 2 by 100 to convert it to a percentage. In this example, the pay raise percentage is 9.52 percent.
