How to Disable Daytime Running Lights on a Volvo V70

The daytime running lights on your Volvo V70 can be switched off fairly easily.

The V70 is a mid-size car that Volvo has produced since 1996. One of its safety features is the daytime running lights (DRL) system. The DRL system turns on the high-beam headlights at reduced output during the day in order to increase your vehicle's visibility. Although the DRL system makes your vehicle safer, it also burns out your high-beam bulbs faster. If you decide to turn off the DRL system on your Volvo V70, all you will need is a small Phillips screwdriver.

Instructions

1. Turn off the V70's engine and remove the key from the ignition. Make sure all the electronic devices on your V70 are switched off.

2. Open the driver's side door. Locate the small screw located below and to the right of the headlight switch.

3. Use the Phillips screwdriver to rotate the screw to the left. Test the daytime running lights. They should be off. If they are not, make sure the screw is adjusted as far to the left as it can go. If you later wish to activate your daytime running lights, turn the screw all the way to the right.

Tips & Warnings

• Volvo advises against disabling the DRL system, as it is an important safety feature of your V70.
