How to Get a Registration, New Plates & a Driver's License in Texas

Texas requires new and existing residents to have proper vehicle registration, license plates and a state-issued driver's license. It is important to get or keep your vehicle and driver's records up-to-date. For new residents, you must apply in person at two different locations: driver's license office and county tax office. If you are an existing resident, you can submit your renewals and applicable fees in person, online or via postal mail.
