How to Add Homemade Winks to MSN

Windows Live Messenger 2011 is a free instant messaging client that uses the Microsoft Network to connect and chat with friends and family. At the bottom of each message window in Windows Live Messenger is a smiley face icon that you can click to add emoticons or "winks" to your conversations. Windows Live Messenger comes with an extensive library of winks, but you can also create a new wink using any image on your computer.

Instructions

      Launch Windows Live Messenger and log in. Double-click the name of any person on your contact list to open a new conversation window.

      Click the wink icon at the bottom of the conversation window.

      Click the blue "More" link at the bottom of the list of winks.

      Click the "Create" button in the "Select an Emoticon" window.

      Click the "Find Image" button. Browse to the image file that you would like to use for your new wink, and double-click it.

      Type a keyboard shortcut that you would like to use for the new wink. For example, the keyboard shortcut for the standard smiley face is ":)."

      Type the name that you would like to identify the new wink.

      Click "OK" twice to return to the conversation window. The next time you use the keyboard shortcut that you selected in Step 6 in a conversation window, the new wink will appear.
