How to Design a Catholic Wedding Card
Catholic wedding cards don't have to be limited to traditional designs. You can use contemporary designs and elements when crafting your invitations, programs, thank you cards and other wedding cards. Use your wedding colors to tie the stationery suite to other wedding details. Imagination, creativity and familiarity with religious images and what they signify are important tools in designing your wedding cards. Choose designs with special meaning to your spiritual journey as a couple.

1
Add Catholic images to your card design. Incorporate Catholic or Christian images to the design, such as a cross, rosary, dove, church or church silhouette, flowers, candles, praying hands, or pictures of Jesus, Mary, the saints or angels. Other images symbolic of the faith are musical instruments, such as the harp and trumpet, religious pictures in stained glass, photos of sunrise or sunset, hands reaching out to each other, stars in the sky, tranquil ocean, footprints in the sand, and birds perched on a tree, among others.
-
2
Maintain uniformity of design throughout your stationery suite. Use the same image for all your wedding cards for uniformity, or use different but complementary images. For example, use a picture of an angel for the invitation, a harp for the ceremony program, and a halo for the thank you cards.

3
Choose a Biblical verse with special meaning to the bride and groom. Use your favorite Bible verse or a verse that has special meaning to you as a couple, and to your relationship, to serve as introduction to your wedding ceremony program or invitation. Incorporate the same verse on other wedding cards, if possible, to maintain consistency of design elements. The same passage or verse description, such as "Psalm 24:3," can be incorporated on the unity candle and wedding favors.

4
Use vintage designs complementary to religious elements. Choose formal fonts for the card to complement the religious elements or enlist the services of a professional calligrapher. You also can incorporate a specially designed bride-and-groom monogram, family crest or vintage designs.

Get DIY or made-to-order wedding cards. Purchase made-to-order cards from invitation makers. Most provide a wide selection of designs or allow you to customize your own. Or download free design templates from wedding invitation websites and create your own cards at home, if you have enough time and the necessary materials, such as a personal computer and printer, paper stock, envelopes, and the like.
