How to Replace the Ink in an Extra Fine Pen
Having your favorite pen run out of ink in the middle of the sentence can be very annoying. Fortunately, having a refill ink cartridge on hand can reduce this annoyance, and save you the time and trouble of having to buy another pen. Refilling your pens is also more environmentally friendly than replacing the entire unit. Regardless of whether you use a ballpoint or rollerball pen, an extra fine, fine or medium nib, refilling the ink is an easy, quick process.
Instructions

1
Purchase a refill ink cartridge. It's helpful to bring the old ink cartridge with you for comparison, in case you can't match the cartridge by model number or name.
-
2
Twist gently to unscrew the pen housing. Depending on your pen, the housing will come apart either at the nib or at the opposite end.
-
-
3
Remove the empty ink cartridge. You can do this by simply turning the pen upside-down and letting the cartridge fall out. A small spring may fall out when you do this; keep the spring in a safe spot.
-
4
Insert the new ink cartridge. If there is a small spring, replace the spring after inserting the cartridge.
-
5
Put the pen housing back on the same way you removed it. Twist gently to make sure it is on securely.
-
6
Test the pen to make sure the nib of the new ink cartridge descends properly, and doesn't wobble when you write.
