How to Mount a GPS on an R6

A GPS is a great way to keep yourself from getting lost on long journeys.

A GPS is a useful device to have on any vehicle, particularly if you're going to be driving long stretches in an unfamiliar area. In a car, a GPS mounts directly onto the windshield, but with a motorbike such as a Yamaha R6, the issue of mounting your GPS is much less obvious. However, there are numerous products for mounting a GPS on a motorbike, and several manufacturers specifically offer mounts for the Yamaha R6.

Instructions

1. Find the right mount for your motorcycle and GPS. Use a mount wizard like the one at Ram Mount (see Reference) to input your GPS brand and model as well as your motorcycle make, model and year.

2. Choose the position for your mount. You will need to be able to easily read your GPS while riding, so take that into consideration. Many mounts come with specifications for where they can be mounted on a motorcycle.

3. Clean the area of your motorcycle where you intend to install your mount.

4. Install your mount according to the product directions included with the hardware. Most mounts do not require any extra tools to mount, and several can just be snapped into place.

5. Check your mount for stability, and tighten any bolts that may require it.
