How to Donate a Pool Table in Northern Virginia

Provide entertainment and get a tax deducion by donating a pool table in Northern Virginia.

A pool table can provide hours of fun and enjoyment for children and adults. If you are moving and cannot bring your pool table or have purchased a new one and find that you need to find a new home for your old one, consider donating your pool table. If you live in Northern Virginia, a number of charitable organizations may be willing to accept your pool table and put it to good use.

Instructions

1. Clean the pool table and gather all the pieces such as the balls and cues that you have to go with the table.

2. Contact charities in Northern Virginia and inquire whether they could use a pool table. Charity Choices provides a list of charities in Northern Virginia that you may contact as a starting point (see Resources).

3. Inquire whether they can pick up the pool table once you find a charity that wants the pool table. If they cannot pick it up, then you will need to arrange transportation.

4. Request a receipt for the donation. You should be able to use the donation as a charitable tax deduction but you will need a receipt for your records to claim the deduction.
