How to Make an iTunes Card Style Photo
The iTunes silhouette advertising campaign was wildly popular and often parodied. The singular image of the silhouette dancing on the screen or on an iTunes gift card with its gleaming white iPod made many people wonder how they could create their own such image. Fortunately, those who want this have a variety of options: There is at least one program that almost instantly converts your images into iTunes-like silhouettes; a company that will do it for you; and a range of graphics-editing programs that will allow you to create it yourself.

Download and install Atlasoft's iPod Ad Generator. This is a freeware program that allows you to create your iTunes card-style silhouette image by importing a blank background image and then an image of you or whomever you want silhouetted in front of that same background. IPod Ad Generator allows you to make a few customization tweaks, such as what color you want the background of your image, and takes care of the rest on its own. This is a quick and simple program, but make sure you follow the software guidelines concerning image resolution and size.

Use a graphics-editing program such as Adobe Photoshop to create your iTunes card-style silhouette image. Graphics-editing programs are the best and most customizable way to create an image like this. They allow you to precisely select the portion of the image you want to make a silhouette of and offer a variety of methods and options for coloring your background, such as fill layer backgrounds or paint bucket tools. These programs vary widely in cost but many offer free trial periods during which you can complete your iTunes card image.

Send the image you want to create an iTunes silhouette image to iPop My Photo. This company employs a group of designers who can create and perfect your iTunes silhouette image. These designers use the same graphics-editing programs mentioned in Step 2, but are professionals and are able to employ the most accurate and detailed methods for creating your image. As of November 2010, IPop My Photo charges $19.95 per image, so for those users who think they may be able to do a good job on their silhouette image using a graphics-editing program, it may be a better option to install one of the free trials and try your hand at it first.
