How to Disable Daytime Running Lights on a 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Some Toyota Tacoma vehicles manufactured in 2006 come equipped with daytime running lamps. The difference between a Tacoma with daytime running lamps and a Tacoma without daytime running lamps is a simple relay embedded in the fuse box. The Tacomas without daytime running lamps have a turn signal relay, whereas the Tacomas with the daytime running lamps enabled have a turn signal/DRL relay. The way to disable your daytime running lamps is to purchase the relay that works only for the turn signals. This "turn signal" only relay can be purchased from Toyota directly.
