How to Use the Rolly Munro Hollower
Wood turner and inventor Rolly Munro developed tools used in creating artistic wood items while working with a turning lathe. The hollower tool facilitates removing wood from the internal portions of turned wood bowls or vases. The hollowing tool is available in two sizes for small or medium to large turning projects.
Instructions

-
1
Turn the outer shape of the wood piece. The outer shape determines the shape of the inner cavity.
-
2
Place the tool support in front of the opening of the project. The top of the support is generally placed slightly below the center line of the project.
-
-
3
Insert the Rolly Munro Hollower into the throat of the intended cavity of the project. Press the hollower deeper into the project to removing more wood from the interior of the project.
-
4
Adjust the articulated head of the hollower to cut the sides of the interior cavity. By changing the angle of the cutting head the hollower can remove wood from the sides creating an interior cavity larger than the throat of the opening of the project. Follow the manufacturer's instructions when adjusting the head. The process involves a single set screw according to the inventor's website.
-
5
Adjust the depth gauge of the articulated head to prevent the tool from cutting through the side or bottom of the project. Loosen the set screw to set the depth gauge to the proper depth.
