How to Clean Rhinestone Jewerly
Rhinestones are staples of costume jewelry and just as costume jewelry designs aren't meant to last forever, neither are rhinestones. Rhinestones have a metal backing which gives them their shine, but it also, eventually, peels away eliminating the shine forever. And because the stones are not meant to last, they are usually set in metal that is merely plated with silver or gold. You can, however, prolong the life of your rhinestone jewelry by keeping it clean. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings
You can also dampen a paper towel with window cleaner and wipe the piece of jewelry with it.
Put jewelry on after you've applied lotion, perfume, and hairspray to keep jewelry clean.
Store jewelry in a jewelry box to keep dust our of the cracks.
Never submerge rhinestone jewelry in any liquid. It will make the backing separate from the stone and ruin the jewelry.
