How to Repair a Media File
Media files formats such as WMV, AVI, and MP4 are used to store compressed video and audio streams. If you cannot open a media file using your preferred media player, you might have to repair the file in order to play it. You can repair a media file using recovery programs such as Steeper, All Media Fixer and Digital Media Recovery.

Steeper

Download Steeper (see Resource section). After downloading, extract the contents inside the downloaded file and double-click the file labeled "Steeper.exe" to launch Steeper.

Click "Open File" to select the file that you want to repair.

Click "Repair File" to repair the selected file.
All Media Fixer

Download and install All Media Fixer (see Resource section). All Media Fixer will automatically launch after installation.

Use the "Add Media File" button to open the media file that you want to repair.

Use the "Start Check and Fix" button to repair the selected media file.
Digital Media Recovery

Download and install Digital Media Recovery (see Resource section). Digital Media Recovery will automatically launch after installation.

Select the hard drive where the corrupted media files are located and click "Next."

Select the type of media file format that you want to repair and click "Next" to repair it.
