How to Glitter & Bead Candles
Many people use candles to decorate their home. Lit candles create a cozy atmosphere and add romance to your everyday living space. Candles come in a variety of decors, including glitter-covered candles and candles adorned with beads. Buying these types of candles can be expensive. Making your own glitter- or bead-covered candles can save you money and satisfy your creative urge. With a little work and ingenuity, you can take satisfaction in decorating your own candles at home. Things You'll Need
- Plain candles
- 1 lb. paraffin wax
- Double boiler
- Glitter
- Newspaper
- Waxed paper
- Craft pins
- Beads
Instructions

Glitter Candle

Purchase or make a plain candle with a smooth surface.

Cover your table or counter top with newspaper to keep your work area clean.

Place a sheet of waxed paper on top of the newspaper, and sprinkle it liberally with glitter.

Melt a 1 lb. block of paraffin wax in a double boiler.

Dip your candle in the melted wax. Cover the entire area you want to apply glitter to. Remove the candle by its wick.

Roll the candle back and forth in the glitter until it is completely covered.

Roll the candle on another sheet of waxed paper to firmly embed the glitter into the wax.

Set the candle aside, and let the glitter-covered candle wax harden for 24 hours before use.
Beaded Candle

Purchase or make a plain candle.

Thread a craft pin through a bead.

Heat the stem of the pin for a few seconds in an open flame to make it easier to insert into the candle. Stick the pin and bead into the candle.

Repeat this action to create the beaded design of your choice on the candle.

Tips & Warnings
Choose craft pins with a head larger than the hole in the bead.
Never leave your hot wax unattended while it is over a flame.
