How to Keep Chairs From Scratching the Floor

• Rug
• Furniture glides
• Non-marking rubber/ball wheels

1. Place a rug on your floor under the chairs. The thick, heavy fabric or the rug can prevent furniture from scraping and damaging your floor.

2. Place furniture glides on the feet of your chairs. According to the National Wood Flooring Association, placing soft plastic or fabric-faced glides under the legs of your furniture can prevent scuffing and scratching of your floor. Measure the size of your chair's feet to ensure you purchase the correct sized furniture glides. You can purchase furniture glides at home improvement stores.

3. Attach wheels to the feet of your chairs if you're not satisfied with the furniture glides. Use non-marking rubber or ball wheels, as these specific types of wheels are less likely to leave marks on your floor. Follow all directions on the label for maximum success. You can purchase non-marking rubber or ball wheels at hardware or home improvement stores.

Tips & Warnings

• Consider purchasing a sturdy, thick rug instead of a thin, cheap rug. Chairs can inflict major damage to your floor through cheaply manufactured rugs.

• Depending on the type of wheels you purchase, you may need to invest in a drill or hot glue gun to properly attach the wheels to the chairs.

• When moving your chairs across your floor, consider moving the chair by completely picking it up from the floor and gently placing it down in your desired location. Moving your chairs this way will prevent them from scratching your floor.

• If not installed or attached to your chairs correctly, non-marking rubber or ball wheels can incur a lot of damage to your floor. Be sure to follow all label directions carefully when attaching the wheels to your chairs.
