      Soak a paper towel in white vinegar.

      Rub the paper towel over the hard water spots, scrubbing until you remove all of the hard water residue. The vinegar quickly cuts through the alkaline base of the spots, removing them almost immediately.

      Let the windows air dry. The vinegar dries free of streaks or residue.
