How to Operate a Sandblaster
With a sandblaster, you can clean a wide variety of surfaces, including wood, brick, stones, concrete, rusty boat hulls and metal rims. A sandblaster requires much less effort than using sandpaper. However, a sandblaster typically produces a lot of noise and should be handled with caution.

Put on protective gear, which includes goggles or a sandblasting mask, gloves and a breathing mask. Also make sure all parts of your body are covered. Sandblasting produces a lot of dust so you should take precautions against it getting into your nose, ears or mouth, in your hair or under your clothes.

Close all the valves on your sandblaster. Fill up the sandblasting tank with sand or other material, using a funnel. Pull the ring closure up and seal the tank.

Point the nozzle of the sandblaster in the required direction.

Open all the valves. Slowly open the nozzle valve. The sand or another material which you put in the sandblaster's tank should start to spray out of the nozzle. Start a couple feet away from the surface which you want to sandblast and slowly move the nozzle closer. Watch the surface. If the sandblasting achieves the desired effect, do not move the nozzle any closer to the surface.

Sandblast the whole area.
