How to Run an AC Duct
One type of ducting that you may have for your home is called flexible ducting and is typically used in an attic. This type of ducting is easy to run because it installs without the need for any shaping, which is typically required for metal ducting. If more AC vents are needed, you can create an additional run from the existing duct work already in your house. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure the length where you need to run the ducting with the tape measure. A measurement will also be needed for the width to determine the maximum diameter for the duct.
-
2
Insert the end of the duct over the sheet metal collar on the existing duct. Place a metal ring or a strap over the end of the flexible duct.
-
-
3
Tighten the ring or strap by turning the screw clockwise or to the right with the Phillips head screwdriver.
-
4
Lay the duct in a floor joist or along a wall. Extend the ducting to its fullest length to prevent any kinks from forming.
-
5
Splice two ends of flexible ducting together to make the run longer, if needed. Place a metal sleeve over the two ends that is at least 4 inches long. This will prevent any air loss at the seam.
-
6
Connect the opposite end of the flexible duct to the opening for the register. Use a metal ring or a strap and tighten with the Phillips head screwdriver.
