How to Transplant Plants in Jiffy Pellets
Jiffy pellets provide an easy, convenient way to germinate a variety of seeds. Many of the pellets come with a greenhouse system, which creates an ideal atmosphere for seed germination. The pellets contain sphagnum peat, which is held together by a fine, degradable mesh coating. When you add water to the pellets, the peat expands. The pellets are space-efficient and can be planted directly in the ground, in a container or in a Jiffy mini greenhouse system. If you use a mini greenhouse system, transplanting your germinated seeds is easy to accomplish and practically stress-free for the plants. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Prepare your soil transplant site. Water the soil thoroughly and gently till the soil. Dig a hole about 2 inches deep, or large enough to accommodate a peat pellet and plant.
-
2
Prepare your peat pellet plants. Pull the fine mesh coating back until it is level with the peat. Be careful not to disturb the plant's root system.

-
3
Place the peat pellet in the hole at your transplanting site. Make sure that the top of the peat pellet is level or just below the soil surface. Handle seedlings by their leaves, rather than stems to avoid breakage. Fill in the hole around the peat pellet and gently compress the soil.

4
Water the seedlings thoroughly and monitor them carefully over the next week or two.
