Instructions for Herman Miller Panels

Instructions for Herman Miller Panels thumbnail
Herman Miller panels have been a part of office furnishings since the 1960s.

Herman Miller developed the components to create the backbone (and bane) of the modern office environment -- the cubicle. Herman Miller panels work to divide open office space, yet allow the flexibility to change and adapt the space as the needs of the business change. The original components of the Action Office system, first introduced in 1968, are compatible with newly released components. The Action system was designed to be constructed by one person and promises easy installation.

Wire the powered bases into the electrical system. This step requires an electrician.

    • 4

Push the first end panel into place on the base. Repeat with the next panel.

    • 5

Place a draw rod between the two panels. The draw rod connects the panels and inserts into the base for added stability.

    • 6

Snap the finished end onto the unattached side of the first panel.

    • 7

Install the two-way connector when you reach a corner to connect the two corner pieces.

    • 8

Repeat above instructions until all panels are in place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the design plan nearby and refer to it frequently as you install the panel system.

  • The Herman Miller Action Office system comes with various full-sized panels. They all install the same way.
