Instructions

    • 1

Determine your phone's problem. Plug in your phone at a different outlet than usual and allow the battery to charge. Wait a sufficient time for a lasting recharge and test different functions on your phone to try and narrow down the cause. If the battery charge is dropping quickly, you may have a problem with the recharging mechanisms or simply the battery.

    • 2

Check that interference isn't just feedback from a nearby neighbor's cordless phone or radio by changing the channel of your receiver if that is possible on your phone's model.

    • 3

Inspect the outside parts of the phone for damaged connections or keys that may be causing interference noises or reception problems. Check the antenna, phone jack and phone cord for any fraying or damage that may cause faulty reception.

    • 4

Unplug the phone base from the wall outlet and for extra safety, you may want to remove the battery temporarily and set it aside. Open the phone base and lift out the circuit board that houses the connections for the base parts. To open the phone base you may have to unscrew screws underneath it or pry apart the two halves of the base.

    • 5

Check the circuit board for any obvious damage such as blackening of fuses or broken or dented areas on the board.

    • 6

Replace the needed parts carefully. Reassemble the base unit.

    • 7

Plug the base into the outlet and test it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the correct voltage and size batteries for replacements.

  • The most common problem you face with cordless phones is the potential for damage during electrical storms and power surges. These surges in electricity through cordless phones can easily cause some components to burn out or stop working properly. Invest in surge protectors for use around your home.
