How to Wash a Wool Hooked Rug
Washing a wool hooked rug doesn't take special experience or materials, but it does take some patience. Leaving the stains on a wool rug too long can ruin it, but scrubbing it too vigorously can damage it as well. You'll need to make time to wash your wool rug outside on a sunny day. Shake out the rug vigorously to remove any surface dirt or other substances.

Lay the rug on an outdoor paved area.

Mix two cupfuls of ordinary detergent into a bucket full of water.

Dip a clean sponge into the detergent mixture and gently rub it onto any stains or discolorations.

Spill out the mixture, rinse out the bucket and fill it with plain water. Use a fresh sponge (or rinse the old one) dipped in the water to wash off the soap.

Lay dry towels on the rug and roll them up together. The towels will soak up any excess water.

Lay the rug flat on the pavement to dry.
