Programming Instructions for a 2004 Caravan's Keyless Remote Entry

Programming Instructions for a 2004 Caravan's Keyless Remote Entry thumbnail
You can program your Caravan's keyless entry remote yourself.

Keyless entry remotes are a popular, and increasingly standard, feature on many vehicles. The 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan is one of the vehicles in which keyless entry comes standard. The purpose of keyless entry is to allow drivers to control door locks and trunk releases from a distance, using the remote control attached to your car key. The 2004 Caravan requires you to already have two usable keys to program a new key. If one of your two original keys is lost or missing, you cannot program the replacement remote yourself. You will have to contact Dodge for programming assistance.

Instructions

    • 1

Get into your 2004 Caravan and shut the doors. Using one of your already programmed car keys, turn your Caravan on for at least 10 seconds but no longer than 15 seconds and then turn the car off and remove the key.

    • 2

Place the second programmed key into the ignition and turn your Caravan on within 15 seconds of removing the first programmed key. Within 10 seconds of turning on your vehicle, the "Theft" light will begin blinking and the car will beep. At this point, turn off the car and remove the key.

    • 3

Insert your new, un-programmed car key into the ignition and turn the car to the "On" position. Within 10 seconds of turning your Caravan into the "On" position with the un-programmed key, the car will beep and the "Theft" light will turn itself off. Turn the car to the "Off" position and remove your newly programmed keyless entry remote control.
