Instructions

    • 1

Draw a line that measures 3 inches on the middle of a piece of paper. Use a compass to make a circle that measures 6 inches, with its middle at one end of the line you drew. Then, create a circle that measures 5 inches, with its middle at the opposite end of your line. Attach the two points on each side of your line to make an oval.

    • 2

Draw a rectangle that measures 6 inches by 20 inches. Cut out the oval you just created along with your rectangle. Pin these shapes to your fabric, and cut out the upper and side portions of your cap.

    • 3

Sew a zigzag stitch along the upper and side edges of your cap. Stitch a hem that measures about ½-inch along the short rectangular edges. Fold over the bottom long edge about an inch and stitch it close to the edge with a zigzag stitch; this becomes the casing.

    • 4

Sew your side piece's upper edge to the top portion of the cap. Sew the sides of your cap to the top.

    • 5

Cut about 2½ feet of bias tape. Sew a zigzag stitch along the ends of your cap. Iinsert the bias tape through your casing on the lower edge of the cap with a safety pin. Pull your bias tape through the casing until both ties equal the exact same length. Remove the safety pin from one end of your bias tape and you're done.
