Automotive Weatherstrip Installation

Replacing the weatherstripping on your vehicle improves the seal formed between the closed door and door frame. Old, worn-out weatherstripping that is cracked should be replaced because it has lost the ability to seal the door closed.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the clips that secure the weatherstripping with needlenose pliers.

    • 2

Pull the weatherstripping off the channel in the door frame with your hands.

    • 3

Apply degreasing agent to a clean rag and wipe it along the door frame and over the weatherstripping channel to remove all the grease and dirt.

    • 4

Slide the new weatherstripping onto the door frame's weatherstrip channel. There is a groove in the weatherstripping that fits into this channel.

    • 5

Reattach the clips to the weatherstripping and snap them onto the door frame.
