Automotive Weatherstrip Installation

Replacing the weatherstripping on your vehicle improves the seal formed between the closed door and door frame. Old, worn-out weatherstripping that is cracked should be replaced because it has lost the ability to seal the door closed.

Things You'll Need

• Needlenose pliers
• Container
• Rag
• Degreasing agent

Instructions

1. Remove the clips that secure the weatherstripping with needlenose pliers.

2. Pull the weatherstripping off the channel in the door frame with your hands.

3. Apply degreasing agent to a clean rag and wipe it along the door frame and over the weatherstripping channel to remove all the grease and dirt.

4. Slide the new weatherstripping onto the door frame's weatherstrip channel. There is a groove in the weatherstripping that fits into this channel.

5. Reattach the clips to the weatherstripping and snap them onto the door frame.
