- Paint
- Paint brushes and rollers
- Wallpaper paste (optional)
- Tracing paper
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Matching paint

Paint the walls of the room. Match the color to a portion of the selected Thomas the Tank Engine border. Blue, red, gray and yellow are all acceptable colors along with plain white. Allow to dry completely.

Apply the border to the top of the wall. Many of the commercially available borders have a self-sticking adhesive. If the border is not self-adhesive, apply using wallpaper paste.

Trace the image of Thomas the Tank Engine from the border. Use tracing paper and a pencil to trace only the outline. Cut out the tracing.

Trace the cut-out, traced image and trace onto cardboard. Cut out the cardboard stencil.

Stencil the created image onto the wall at the half-way point of the wall, in a pattern or randomly on the walls.

Paint the stenciled images in various colors from the border. Fill in the entire area to create train images on the walls.
