Instructions

    • 1

Attach a pew clip to each pew you wish to hold a candle. Most pew clips that you can purchase are made from metal or plastic and clip over the top of the pew. To attach the clip to the pew, slip the clip over the top of the pew with one arm on the inside of the pew and the arm with the hook hanging on the outside of the pew. If you are worried about the clip scratching the wood of the pew you can glue a piece of felt to the loop of the clip. Make sure you choose a piece of fabric that is not too slippery so the clip will stay in place.

Hang the candle holder off of the pew clip hook. Lantern candle holders work very well to decorate pews. Lanterns are easy to hang and it encloses the candle, which catches drips and prevents clothing from catching fire or children from touching the flames.

Attach a wire bow over the pew clip. The bow will hide the clip and add more decoration to the pew. You could also choose to use a flower wreath or leave the clip visible. If you are covering the pew clips and you have an open flame, make sure that nothing can catch fire during the ceremony.

Tips & Warnings

  • Scented candles offer a mild fragrance to the air which can add freshness to the space, especially if you are not using a lot of flowers.

  • Purchase drip-less candles so that you do not get wax on the side of the pew and floor, causing damage.
