How to Improve Your IQ Ability
The Intelligence Quotient test measures two types of intelligence: the intelligence you already have, which is known as "crystallized intelligence," and the intelligence you gain through short-term memory or "working memory" exercises, which is known as "fluid intelligence." While you cannot change crystallized intelligence, you can improve fluid intelligence for a higher IQ score.

1
Undergo memory training to improve fluid intelligence. Fluid intelligence measures your ability to understand relationships between multiple concepts, independent of any previous knowledge or skills, to solve new problems, according to Science 20, a website dedicated to the sciences. Train your brain to recall numerical or visual patterns after a brief separation from the item.

2
Employ writing techniques to improve fluid intelligence. Analyze an event or a specific work or school project. Recall as many facts about the event or project as possible. Imagine a different outcome for the event or an alternative way to complete the project. Write all the information in a journal or on pieces of paper. Such writing exercises can improve creativity, logic and focus skills.

3
Engage in daily cardiovascular exercise. According to a study carried out at the Center for Brain Repair and Rehabilitation in Gothenburg, Sweden, a measurable link exists between good physical fitness and better results for the IQ test. Perform at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular activity daily. Strenuous exercise is not necessary; a brisk walk is sufficient.

4
Read books that tackle unfamiliar topics. As you read, create a list of unfamiliar words to improve vocabulary skills. Enroll in a speed-reading class, if possible, which also improves brain power.
-
5
Listen to Mozart daily or before taking the IQ test. Listening to 10 to 15 minutes of a Mozart sonata can improve spatial-temporal intelligence, according to researchers at the University of California, Irvine. Learning to play a musical instrument is just as effective at raising IQ scores.
